FRACTALS by iMANiM 4/25/25

VENIA Studio presents FRACTALS a Los Angeles debut by artist and actress Minami; a 9-part installation and mixed-media exhibition exploring expressions of fungi through the memories of a snail.

Opening reception: April 25th at 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: 300 S Santa Fe. Suite U, Los Angeles, CA 90013

FRACTALS

「すべては無常であり、生まれ、変化し、消滅する運命にある。」
“All things are impermanent; they arise and cease—that is their nature.”

This philosophy of reincarnation is reflected in these works, capturing the fleeting yet ever-evolving nature of existence.

This exhibition illustrates how the memories of the snail, mediated by fungi, bridge the past and future, continuously transforming into new forms. By adopting a “fractal” approach, it explores the themes of “Erosion,” “Connection,” and “Formation” to express the cycles and regeneration of life.

Artist Statement

"My art navigates the space between the known and the unknown, where identity shifts, memories evolve, and boundaries dissolve. Drawing from my experience as an actress, I see every role as a doorway to a new perspective—an approach that extends into my visual art.

For me, expression is a way to transcend boundaries. I exist at the threshold, always seeking to create new spaces beyond. My work is an invitation to step into the unseen, to uncover new narratives waiting to be discovered."  -iMANiM

About Minami

Growing up between Japanese and French cultures, Minami has always questioned the concept of boundaries. The sense of displacement and solitude she experienced became the foundation of her artistic journey. Since childhood, she has immersed herself in art, expanding her creative practice through self-taught experimentation with various mediums.

At the core of her work lies the visualization of the “in-between”—the liminal spaces that exist between identities, reincarnation, and memory.

Since her solo exhibition eN in 2021, she has actively showcased her work in exhibitions across the globe.
Working across painting, sculpture, video, and installation, she continues to challenge conventional forms of expression.

Drawing from her experience as an actress, she has also ventured into film production. Now based in Tokyo, Paris, and Los Angeles, she is constantly seeking new ways to transcend artistic and cultural boundaries.
